White Sox: Garcia turned in his first quality start since May 28, 2007, on Tuesday against the Red Sox. The 33-year-old right-hander scattered five hits over 6 1/3 innings of three-run ball in a no-decision at Fenway Park, his first quality start as a member of the White Sox since Sept. 29, 2006. In lifetime starts against the Yankees, Garcia is 4-3 with a 4.19 ERA.
Yankees: Chamberlain will start on regular rest as he tries to bounce back from a rocky effort with eight days between starts on Tuesday against Texas. Handed a 4-0 lead, Chamberlain gave it all back plus some, allowing seven earned runs in four innings pitched. He allowed nine hits, walking three and striking out five. Chamberlain has allowed at least four runs in each of his last four starts, going 1-2 with a 8.55 ERA (19 earned runs in 20 innings) over that span. He has not faced the White Sox in 2009 and will be making his first career start against them after four relief appearances.

Dodgers: Rookie knuckleballer Charlie Haeger, making only his third Major League start, pitched a gem against the Cubs and will remain in the rotation for this game, as manager Joe Torre said he’d prefer to keep Jeff Weaver in the bullpen. Haeger took a three-hit shutout into the eighth inning and the bullpen held on to preserve his first victory since 2006. Haeger struck out seven.
Reds: At Triple-A Louisville, Maloney is 9-9 with a 3.08 ERA. His last start was on Sunday at Toledo and he allowed four runs and six hits over six innings with two walks and seven strikeouts. Maloney made three starts for the Reds and was optioned back to Louisville on June 20.
