Top Five NFL Betting Picks for Week 2
The NFL regular season kicked off with a slew of favorites covering the spread. Will that trend continue in Week 2? We’ve sifted through the 16-game menu for Week 2 and narrowed down our top five picks.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
Odds: Saints -10
The Bucs have covered the spread in three of their last four against the Saints, and they’ll be eager to show they’re not as bad as they looked in a 42-14 thrashing at the hands of Tennessee. The Saints fell 31-19 to Arizona, and they’ve covered in just four of their last ten at home. The Saints will likely win straight up, but with their red zone issues cropping up, the Bucs should be able to stay within the spread.
Pick: Buccaneers +10
St. Louis Rams at Washington Redskins
Odds: Rams -3.5
The Rams stunned Seattle 34-31 in overtime, sacking Russell Wilson six times. That doesn’t bode well for Redskins’ Kirk Cousins, who was picked off twice in Washington’s 17-10 loss at home to Miami. The Rams have covered in six of their last seven against Washington, including a 24-0 shutout on the road last season.
Pick: Rams -3.5
Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars
Odds: Dolphins -6
The Dolphins took a while to get going against Washington, but eventually avoided embarrassment. Meanwhile, the Jaguars looked, well, like the Jaguars in a 20-9 loss to Carolina. Blake Bortles and the offense didn’t look much better than it did last season. He was 22-of-40 for 183 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. One of those was a pick-six, which means that Bortles now has five in his young career. That’s the most in the NFL since the start of 2014.
Pick: Miami -6
Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers
Odds: Packers -3.5
The Seahawks looked out of sorts in their loss to the Rams, but as poorly as they played, they still managed to take the Rams to overtime. That being said, they’ll to play harder against the Packers, who beat Chicago 31-23. The Packers have had this game circled for a while now, and they’ll want some revenge after the three consecutive straight up losses to Seattle, including the heartbreaking NFC title game last season. The two have split their last four ATS, but the Packers are in a good position to take advantage of a weakened Seattle defense that is still missing Kam Chancellor, who is embroiled in a holdout situation over his contract.
Pick: Green Bay -3.5
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts
Odds: Colts -7
The Jets had their way with Cleveland in a 31-10 romp, with New York forcing five turnovers. The Indianapolis Colts were embarrassed in a 27-14 loss to Buffalo, and they’re going to do everything in their power to avoid an 0-2 start to the season – especially on a Monday night. The Colts are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 at home and even though the Jets have covered in four of the last five against Indy, they haven’t met since 2012, which was Andrew Luck’s rookie season.
Pick: Colts -7
