Top Five NFL Picks for Week 11
The Minnesota Vikings are first in the NFC North, the Seattle Seahawks are 10th in the NFC standings and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have more wins than the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens and San Diego Chargers. Just as you predicted, right? It’s been a wild ride so far. Onwards to Week 11 with our top picks.
Washington Redskins @ Carolina Panthers
Odds: Panthers -7.5
Washington put 47 points on New Orleans, but they’re hitting the road to face the undefeated Panthers. The Redskins are 0-3 against teams with a winning record, and Carolina is 4-0 against teams with a losing record. The Panthers thumped Tennessee 27-10 last week and their defense is going to be a much stiffer test for the Redskins than the historically-bad Saints defense was last week. Expect some Kirk Cousins turnovers, so lay the points.
Pick: Panthers -7.5
Oakland Raiders @ Detroit Lions
Odds: Raiders -1.5
The Raiders have dropped two in a row following their positive 4-3 start. They might be a victim of believing their own hype. Oakland was a media favorite before losing to Pittsburgh and Minnesota, and they have to get back to doing what made them successful.
The Lions did everything they could to hand Green Bay a win last week, but the Packers weren’t willing to take it. Even so, Detroit should come into this game with good spirits. Take them to beat the Raiders as a home dog.
Pick: Lions +1.5
Indianapolis Colts @ Atlanta Falcons
Odds: Falcons -6
Both the Colts and Falcons are coming off their bye, but Indianapolis is significantly worse for wear. They are without Andrew Luck for the next month at least, and many think it could be longer.
The Falcons are in the thick of the hunt in the NFC, but they lost three of four going into the bye. The Falcons are at home here and have the better offense. Look for them to turn it into a shootout and get the cover. The Colts offense won’t be able to keep pace.
Pick: Falcons -6
Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers
Odds: Chiefs -3
The Chiefs surprised everyone with a huge win in Denver to the point that Peyton Manning had to be pulled after throwing four interceptions. Kansas City was left for dead after the Jamaal Charles injury, but they’ve actually won three straight and now they have a chance to sneak into the postseason.
The Chargers are at the opposite end of the momentum spectrum. They’re coming off a bye, but are still beat up and have lost five straight. Kansas City is healthier and more confident these days. Lay the points on the road.
Pick: Chiefs -3
Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots
Odds: Patriots -7
The Bills pulled out a huge win for Rex Ryan in his return to the Meadowlands against his former team, the New York Jets. Meanwhile, the Patriots needed a last-second field goal to stay unbeaten against the New York Giants, revealing a few cracks in the armor. Ryan has gone up against the Patriots enough to know how they like to play. If the Bills can stay disciplined, avoiding penalties and turnovers, they’ll keep this close.
Pick: Bills +7
