NFL Live Betting: Offensive Fireworks Likely as Saints Host Cowboys on Sunday Night
by Bovada Sportsbook Staff | Nov. 8, 2013
Two of the NFL’s best offenses and quarterbacks will be on display in the Sunday night Week 10 game when Dallas visits New Orleans in a matchup of NFC division leaders. The Saints opened as 7-point favorites at Bovada with Live Betting available.
Dallas averages 28.6 points per game behind Tony Romo, who is fifth in the NFL in passing yards with 2,553 and No. 3 in touchdown passes with 21. Romo had his third game with at least 300 yards this season in Week 9’s 27-23 victory over Minnesota to keep Dallas (5-4, 7-2 ATS) atop the NFC East by a game over Philadelphia. The Cowboys are -225 favorites to win the division.

Romo threw for 337 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings, a second straight Dallas game that was decided in the final minute. He tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Harris with 35 seconds remaining for the winning score or it would have been one of the biggest upsets of the season with the Vikings as 10.5-point underdogs.
The Cowboys scored touchdowns just 10 seconds apart in the third quarter. Jason Witten caught a 26-yard TD from Romo. On the ensuing kickoff, Minnesota rookie fumbled the kickoff out of bounds at the Minnesota 5. On the next play, George Selvie knocked the ball out of the hand of Minnesota QB Christian Ponder in the end zone and teammate Nick Hayden pounced on it for the second TD. Dallas was actually outgained by 43 yards by a terrible Vikings team. The Cowboys played without their best defensive player, DeMarcus Ware, but he will return this week after missing three games.
New Orleans (6-2, 5-3 ATS) has looked unbeatable at home this season but rather shaky outside the Superdome and they lost 26-20 at the New York Jets in Week 9 as a 6-point favorite. Both of the Saints’ losses have come on the road and they have scored more than 20 points in just one of four road games. In four home games, the Saints are averaging nearly 32 points per game.
Drew Brees, who grew up a Cowboys fan in Texas and is named after former Dallas receiver Drew Pearson, threw for 382 yards and two touchdowns against the Jets but also two interceptions. He is second to Denver’s Peyton Manning in passing yards (2,672) on the season and also second to Manning in touchdown passes. Tight end Jimmy Graham continued his monster season with nine catches for 116 yards and two scores in Week 9. It was his fourth game with multiple touchdowns in 2013. Brees didn’t have top receiver Marques Colston for the Jets game due to a knee injury and running back Darren Sproles left early in the game with a concussion. Colston is iffy again this week but Sproles should play.
The Saints and Cowboys played one of the most offensively entertaining games of last season, a 34-31 New Orleans win in overtime at Dallas in Week 16. The cowboys were down 31-17 with less than four minutes remaining, but Romo threw scoring passes to Harris and Miles Austin, the latter with 15 seconds left, to tie it. The Saints won the game on Garrett Hartley’s 20-yard field goal with 10:33 left in OT. Romo threw for 416 yards and four touchdowns, with Dez Bryant catching nine passes for 224 yards and two scores. Brees threw for 446 yards and three scores. Colston and Sproles combined for 17 catches for 257 yards. The teams totaled 1,008 yards and 51 first downs.
New Orleans hasn’t lost a home regular-season game under coach Sean Payton, who sat out last season due to suspension, since the end of the 2010 season. Amazingly, the Saints also have covered the spread in all those home wins under Payton.
