The 2023-24 NHL season starts tonight! This is where you find free picks for the NHL regular season and playoffs. These are my actual NHL picks that I bet and win with. You’re welcome to share your picks in the comments section below this post.

TORONTO vs PHILADELPHIA

PUCK DROP: 7:00 PM ET
PROBABLE GOALIES: SAMSONOV (C) vs ERSSON (C)
RESULT:
Head and shoulders better than the Flyers, the Maple Leafs have an incredible road record (20-7-6). The Flyers are barely .500 on home ice. These teams are heading in opposite directions. The Flyers have also decided to bench their captain as a healthy scratch from this game. Philly has lost 3 of their last 4, with the only win being against San Jose. They surrendered 20 goals across those 3 defeats. Leafs have won 6 of their last 7 road games, including in Philly last week with a 6-2 destruction.
CAROLINA vs NEW YORK ISLES
PICK: CANES 3WAY (+108)
UNITS: 4 BEST BET
PUCK DROP: 7:00 PM ET
PROBABLE GOALIES: KOCHETKOV (P) vs SOROKIN (C)
RESULT:
Canes on the upswing…Isles on the down. Getting plus money here for a regulation ML is gold.
COLUMBUS vs DETROIT
PICK: WINGS 3WAY (-105)
PICK: OVER 6.5 (-105)
UNITS: 4 BEST BET
PUCK DROP: 7:00 PM ET
PROBABLE GOALIES: TARASOV (C) vs REIMER (C)
RESULT:
Double dip potential here. We’re going to take both plays, as if the Wings don’t cover the regulation ML, it’s most likely because they couldn’t keep the puck out of their net and Tarasov isn’t going to stone the Wings in Detroit. Great shot at winning both, but the hedge should at least offer protection in the event that Reimer isn’t on his game.
BUFFALO vs VANCOUVER
PICK: CANUCKS 3WAY ML (-120)
UNITS: 3
PUCK DROP: 10:30 PM ET
PROBABLE GOALIES: LEVI (P) vs DESMITH (C)
RESULT:
Vancouver is dominant at home, and the Sabres are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights on the road and they played last night in Seattle. Levi and Comrie are both bad options tonight, but with Luukonen playing last night, I don’t see them going back to him. You could also hedge this one with the total here, as Desmith has been solid but the only way that the Canucks don’t cover here is if Buffalo are scoring. The Canucks will get their goals, no doubt, but if this devolves into a shooting match, we could double up.

Our VEGAS MIKE SPECIAL hit again! Each season, there are usually less than a half dozen of these extraordinary setups that we go “ALL IN” on, which is technically only 50% of bankroll. We’ve already had 4 of them this season! With NHL games, the majority of bettors do not account for backup goalies getting a start and this information isn’t easily accessible, nor is it published when lines are set. Unlike MLB, where the lines are based on the starting pitchers, NHL lines are not contingent on the number 1 goalie getting the start. This creates a huge opportunity in the right circumstances.
What is Puck Line in hockey betting? – The PUCK LINE is a hockey point spread of -1.5, similar to Run Line in baseball wagering.
What is 3-way line in hockey betting? – The 3-way line is a bet for a winner in regulation time. There is a draw option as well, which is a bet for the game to go to overtime. Betting the 3-way offers a better payout with a small risk of the draw. Note that if you’re betting with Pro-Line or SportSelect in provincial lotteries, a draw is only awarded after the 5-minute OT period has concluded in a tie. Another reason to not bet with the provincial lotteries.
