After offing the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in six, the Suns favored by 5-points for Monday’s opener versus Denver (10 PM ET, TNT). The Nuggets reached the second round by putting away the Portland Trail Blazers in six; they’re a bit thin in the backcourt minus Jamal Murray, and Phoenix point guard Chris Paul has been playing through a shoulder injury.
These two championship hopefuls faced each other three times during the regular season, with the road team winning every game and Denver (+2000 to win their first championship) coming out ahead 2-1 SU and ATS. They needed overtime to earn both their victories, while Phoenix (+900) won their away game by three points. All three meetings happened in January, before they lost Murray for the season to a torn ACL, leaving the Nuggets heavily dependent on presumptive MVP Nikola Jokic and deadline pick-up Aaron Gordon.
