In 2013, the laws of averages caught up with them, so this year feels like one in which anything is possible. The Twins do not figure to compete in a stacked A.L. Central. This is an important time for players to develop.

This is a matchup that could be a Division Series preview. At the very least, if this matchup does happen in October, nobody would be too surprised. Kansas City has built a tough team with a strong, deep bullpen and lots of speed on both offense and defense. Oakland’s young pitchers weren’t quite as good last year as they were in 2012, but the A’s did more than enough on offense to power to the playoffs once again. These are two young teams with bright futures.
